Ambernath City Bust: ₹9 Lakh Worth of Cannabis caught in Thane District, Maharashtra

In Ambernath, Maharashtra, a massive haul of cannabis worth $95,000 was caught. The Thane Crime Branch has seized approximately 90 kilograms of cannabis from a vehicle in Ambernath, a town in the Thane district of Maharashtra, as part of a significant anti-drug operation. On the black market, the caught drug is estimated to be worth nearly 9 lakh rupees. The incident took place earlier this week when the police received a tip-off about a suspicious SUV entering the area. The Anti-Narcotics Cell quickly set up a trap near Badlapur in a rural area of Ambernath West. During the vehicle's stop and search, officers discovered 59 tightly packed plastic bundles concealed in the boot, all of which contained cannabis. In connection with the case, three men from Ambernath have been taken into custody. They have been identified as Ravi Jaiswal (35), Hasin Khan (25), and Mohammad Siddique (26). It is believed that all three are connected to a larger drug supply network.

Along with several mobile phones, the police have also caught their vehicle, which is also worth another 9 lakh rupees. Officials say that a case has been filed at Ulhasnagar's Hill Line Police Station under the NDPS Act (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act). The people who were arrested have been brought before the court and are now being held by the police for additional questioning. Investigators are now trying to trace the origin of the cannabis and identify the people it was meant to be delivered to in Ambernath or nearby areas. This seizure, according to the police, could be a significant breakthrough in breaking up a larger drug operation that was operating in parts of Maharashtra. The public has been assured by authorities that additional measures will be taken to ensure residents' safety and prevent the distribution of such illegal substances on the streets.
